CSMI has worked for some of the largest insurance and surety firms in the country. We have successfully completed construction projects where the contractor has defaulted for financial reasons. We have monitored the reconstruction of property damaged by wind, rain, and storms. We have evaluated property losses and recommended alternative methods of repair that resulted in cost-effective reconstruction.
CSMI assisted a large insurance carrier with monitoring the cost of reconstructing a school roof damaged in a severe storm. The damaged roof allowed water to penetrate into the interior of the school causing extensive damage to electrical and mechanical systems as well as drywall, casework, kitchen equipment, and the contents of the building.
CSMI prepared cost estimates for reconstructing a residence knocked off its foundation when a paving truck’s breaks failed on a hill and hit the house.
CSMI assisted the property owner’s insurance carrier in recovering the cost of repair to a damaged chemical pipe trestle after a crane tripped onto the trestle and broke all the chemical lines. We evaluated the cost of hazardous waste cleanup, the crane damage, and the cost of reconstructing the chemical lines to settle with the crane company’s insurance carrier.
CSMI prepared a complete cost estimate of heavy concrete construction project where the design/build contractor contended that its design team did not prepare a design that fit within the owner’s budget. The re-estimate demonstrated that the contractor’s cost overruns were the result of inaccurate estimating practices. The claim was reduced from $1.4 million to $200,000, after which the final amount was negotiated and settled.
